Residential Fire Causes $107,000 in Damage

A fire possibly started by children playing with matches Saturday caused an estimated $107,000 in damage to a North Hollywood house and garage, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Larry Ford said.
There were no injuries.
Eight fire companies extinguished the blaze half an hour after it broke out about 11:15 a.m. at 7260 Irvine Ave., Ford said.
The fire gutted the garage and extensively damaged the house’s attic and roof, Ford said. It apparently started in the garage.
Ford said there was about $82,000 in structural damage and a $25,000 loss of house contents.
Firefighters are investigating the possibility that children playing with matches started the fire, but no cause has been established, Ford said.
