Construction is to begin Oct. 1 in Fullerton on the $50-million Sunny Hills Expansion Project for Hughes Aircraft Co.’s Ground Systems Group, with completion planned by the end of 1986.
Huntington Beach architects Anthony & Langford have been retained to design the two three-story buildings totaling 380,000 square feet on a 34.5-acre parcel north of Hughes Road and adjacent to the company’s existing facilities.
The buildings will consolidate present operations, including engineering labs and management offices for the group’s communications systems division, engineering and microelectronics laboratories, and group administration staff offices. Each building will house 700 employees.
The buildings will be of steel frame and concrete tilt-up construction, with adjoining parking. Hughes is working with the city to mitigate the impact of any increased traffic in the area.
