Cram Sets His Third World Record in 20 Days

Britain’s Steve Cram set his third world track record in 20 days by running the 2,000 meters in 4 minutes 51.39 seconds Sunday at the Mobil-IAAF Grand Prix track and field meet at Budapest, Hungary.
Cram’s mark, in doubt for moments after a wrong time was flashed on the screen due to an apparent technical error, came after he had set world records in the 1,500 meters in Nice, France, and over the mile at Oslo, Norway.
He bettered by one-hundredth of a second the world record set by New Zealand’s John Walker in 1976.
