Production was down sharply and employment was up slightly but still depressed, according to the latest monthly survey by the National Assn. of Purchasing Management. For the sixth consecutive month, the group’s composite index indicated a declining economy with the index at 46.8%. Any level below 50% shows a declining economy, the group said.
