WASHINGTON — A woman carrying a loaded pistol was arrested Thursday while she waited in line to tour the White House with her family, the Secret Service said.
Secret Service spokesman Jack Taylor said Deborah Darnell, 28, of Paducah, Ky., apparently “had no intention of using the weapon.” The .25-caliber pistol was detected by a metal detector.
Darnell was released after Washington police charged her with possession of a handgun, possession of ammunition and carrying an unregistered weapon.
