MEXICO CITY — The opposition National Action Party announced Thursday that it will sponsor a massive rally in Sonora state Sept. 13, when the new governor, a member of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party, is inaugurated.
Leaders of National Action said that they hope at least 100,000 people will turn out in Hermosillo, the Sonora capital, to protest non-violently the inauguration of Rodolfo Felix Valdes as governor.
The party charges that it was deprived of victories in last month’s elections by widespread fraud.
