Conferences in Nairobi

Over the years I have admired Hendrix’s work in covering many women’s groups and activities--with the Church Women United, with the pre-conference in Los Angeles for the Women’s Decade, and others.
Her reporting of the Nairobi Conference certainly represents the problems and accomplishments, and agrees with other reports from the attendees of the Forum from this country and abroad that the Forum seemed to address the real issues of the times, and that the official conference pretty much surrounded the U.S. delegation and isolated them. We can only express sorrow that the official delegation did not represent the real peace and women’s concerns in the United States.
We are especially appreciative that Hendrix mentioned one of the longstanding international peace organizations, which for 70 years has been working to eliminate the causes of war and to set up the procedures for dealing with the tensions of the world in non-violent means--the Women’s International League For Peace And Freedom.
