OLSON LEAVING ROGERS, COWAN

Dale Olson, head of the motion-picture division of Rogers and Cowan Inc., the largest public relations firm in the entertainment industry, has resigned from the agency to establish Dale C. Olson and Assoc.
Olson, 50, a principal and senior vice president of Rogers and Cowan, has represented many of the best-known personalities in Hollywood during the last 20 years, including Rock Hudson, whose battle with AIDS briefly caught Olson, as Hudson’s Los Angeles-based publicist, in the middle of a media storm.
Olson said Monday that the Hudson stories had nothing to do with his decision to leave Rogers and Cowan.
“I want to be a press agent again,” said Olson, who started his career in Hollywood as a reporter for Daily Variety. “The agency has grown so large. I feel I’ll be happier with a few select clients.”
