Christina (Missy) Kurt, a three-sport star at Notre Dame Academy in West Los Angeles, is a member of the U.S. Volleyball Assn. women’s team that is competing in the Pacific Rim Tournament, which ends Tuesday in Hilo, Hawaii.
Kurt, 16, was a member of the Tiger Gold Volleyball Club of Santa Fe Springs, which recently won the USVBA national junior Olympic championship for players 17 and younger in St. Joseph, Mo. Last year she was the most valuable player in the national tournament as her team won the title for players 15 and younger.
An honor student at Notre Dame Academy, where she will be a junior this fall, she has played varsity volleyball, basketball and softball since her freshman year. Last year she was named all-league in the three sports, and was named to the All-CIF Southern Section 4-A first team in volleyball and to The Times’ All-Westside basketball team.
