The Coast Guard flew in a Navy doctor and then airlifted out a 21-year old man reported to have had a seizure Sunday aboard a small sailboat off the coast of Mexico, 55 miles south of Point Loma.
The man, a Fullerton resident, was flown to Scripps Memorial Hospital at about 10 a.m., Coast Guard Lt. Gilbert Flores said . A hospital spokeswoman said the man was treated and released.
According to Flores, the Coast Guard received a call for help from several people aboard the 23-foot sailboat. The Coast Guard flew in a surgeon from the Naval Air Station at North Island, but the doctor was unable to determine what had happened to the man, Flores said.
