Former schoolteacher Terry E. Bartholome has been charged with 18 additional sexual molestation counts based on recent preliminary hearing testimony by female students from the 68th Street School in South-Central Los Angeles. Bartholome, who is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail, pleaded not guilty to all 45 molestation counts that have been filed against him at his Superior Court arraignment before Judge Gerald Levie. The case has attracted wide attention as a result of reports that school administrators waited more than a year before relaying children’s allegations against Bartholome to police. Deputy Dist. Atty. Rita A. Stapleton said Bartholome is now accused of molesting 17 elementary school girls.
