Norman Braman, new owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, offered his players $10,000 bonuses if they make the playoffs this season. Braman surprised the Eagles with the offer in a brief meeting with the players during which he congratulated them for a 3-1 exhibition record.
The offer includes coaches, trainers and anyone directly connected with the football operation. If the Eagles, who finished 6-9-1 last season, make the playoffs, it will cost Braman about $750,000.
The bonus offer was not well received by the NFL’s Management Council, but the league chose not to prevent Braman from going ahead with it.
