UCI Women Finish Third in Tournament

The UC Irvine women’s volleyball team took fourth place Tuesday in the All-California Tournament at UCLA, winning two of its five matches.
The Anteaters began the season by beating UC Davis, 15-5, 15-1, and UC San Diego, 16-14, 15-5, but then lost to UCLA, Cal and UC Santa Barbara in the third-place match to close the tournament.
UCI plays host to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
In other action:
Chapman 3, Southern California College 1: The Panthersdefeated SCC, 15-2, 12-15, 15-13, 15-11, in a nonconference match at Costa Mesa.
Tammy Light, Pam Winokur, and Brenda Read led the Panthers to the victory in the season opener for both schools.
