Did Dealer Al Give Up Too Much for Madlock?

Al Campanis of the Dodgers said recently that he didn’t want to retire for another few years. I say he should have retired several years ago!

The Bill Madlock deal where Campanis gives away young ballplayers with good potential for the future in exchange for a 34-year-old who, from his record, is definitely over his peak, is inexcusable. These young players, in years to come, will come back to haunt the Dodgers--as so many others have in the past under the magic touch of Campanis.
