BOULDER, Colo. — Cliff Meely, a former basketball star at the University of Colorado, was sentenced to 90 days in jail Friday on an earlier guilty plea to a charge of selling cocaine to an undercover police officer.
The 6-8 Meely, considered to have been the Buffaloes’ greatest basketball player (1968-71), is scheduled to begin his Boulder County Jail term Sept. 30.
“While I’m facing 90 days in jail, things are not as gloomy as they seem,” said Meely, a former NBA guard for six years with the Lakers and the Houston Rockets. “Things will work themselves out.”
Boulder District Judge Michael Enwall also put Meely, 38, on three years’ probation for selling 23.8 grams of cocaine to a Boulder undercover officer on Jan. 31.
