Anne McGill Burford, former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, and her husband, Robert F. Burford, director of the Bureau of Land Management, were arrested on drinking-related charges after a highway incident, Arlington County, Va., authorities said. Anne Burford was arrested after becoming disruptive at the Arlington County Detention Center, jail officials said. Her arrest occurred two hours after her husband was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and refusing to take a breathalyzer test.
