UNITED NATIONS — The U.S. gift to the United Nations on its 40th anniversary will be a large mosaic of Norman Rockwell’s painting, “The Golden Rule,” depicting the world’s peoples at peace and harmony.
U.N. spokesman Francois Giuliani announced the gift. The United Nations officially marks its anniversary Oct. 24.
The privately funded gift is being assembled by Italian artisans from Venice. The 10-by-10-foot mosaic will be displayed at the end of a corridor that leads to the visitors’ gallery of the U.N. General Assembly.
