Meese’s View of Miranda Rule
Although your editorial on Meese was quite accurate indeed, it did miss the point. Meese’s convoluted view of American jurisprudence/justice should have been foreseen by the man who appointed him to that position and, once recognized for what it was, Meese’s views should never have been allowed to hold sway at the Justice Department.
Limited to a role in a “Kitchen Cabinet” is one thing, but to suggest that Meese is representative of American thinking on the state of civil liberties in America is ludicrous.
