Sweetwater, Vista, Granite Hills Have Shots at Perfect Seasons

There were two changes in The Times’ top 10 high school football rankings this week. Chula Vista dropped from fourth to seventh place after losing to No. 1 Sweetwater, 20-0; and No. 9 Morse and No. 10 Orange Glen changed places.

This week, Sweetwater is a heavy favorite to beat Hilltop, and No. 3 Granite Hills is expected to beat Mount Miguel. Second-ranked Vista takes on No. 6 Fallbrook (8-1).

El Camino got its fifth straight win, 38-6 over San Pasqual on Friday, and moved into the best of the rest. The Wildcats, the San Diego Section 2-A champion last year, clinched a playoff berth. Other ranked 2-A teams include No. 4 Crawford and No. 8 Lincoln. Also, University City (6-2), a newcomer to the Best of the Rest, figures to challenge in 2-A.
