University Reaches 4-A Volleyball City Semifinals

University High needed only three games to dispose of Chatsworth to advance Wednesday to the semifinals of the City 4-A volleyball playoffs.

Led by Romy Lerner and Deirdre Runnette, University topped the Chancellors, 15-2, 15-6, 16-14. Lerner had seven kills while Runnette had six kills and three blocks. University (20-3) will meet Carson in the semifinals Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Venice High. Chatsworth ended its season with a 7-3 West Valley League record.

In another City 4-A quarterfinal playoff game, El Camino Real lost to Carson but not before the two teams played five games Wednesday at Carson. The Colts won, 15-8, 16-14, 12-15, 13-15 and 15-11.
