NEW YORK — A woman who apparently believed that she had been cheated walked into the headquarters of Deak-Perera, the nation’s largest non-bank dealer in currency and precious metals, and killed the company’s chairman and a receptionist today.
Receptionist Frances Lauder, 58, was shot through the head, and Chairman Nicholas Deak, 80, was shot through the heart. A police spokesman said of Lois Lang, 40, who was arrested after the shootings: “She’s claiming some injustice was done to her in the past by this company. There’s no substantiation.”
