Minorities probably will become the majority in California over the next 25 years, as Latinos and Asians rapidly increase their presence, a private research group said. Whites are expected to slip to 47% of California’s population by the year 2010 and to 38.4% by 2030, according to a study published by the Washington-based Population Reference Bureau. During the same period, Latinos will increase to 32.2% of the Californian population by 2010 and will nearly equal non-Latino whites by 2030, the study shows. The Asian and black populations are expected to grow at slower rates.
