INDIANAPOLIS — Karl Malone tipped in a John Stockton shot at the buzzer as the Utah Jazz came from behind to edge the Indiana Pacers, 102-101, in the only NBA game scheduled Monday night.
Indiana led by four points with 1:58 to play on a field goal by Herb Williams. But two free throws from Adrian Dantley, who led the Jazz with 25 points, cut it to 99-97, and Mark Eaton made one of two foul shots to bring it to 99-98 with :58 to play.
Dantley then scored on a driving layup to give Utah a 100-99 advantage with :22 left.
Indiana’s Terence Stansbury then hit a 12-foot baseline jumper with seven seconds to go to make it 101-100.
