Culver, Palihi Top Cage Seeds

The Culver City and Palisades high school basketball teams, both winners in their season openers, are seeded first and second, respectively, in the boys section of Beverly Hills High School’s annual invitational tournament, which begins Monday for both boys and girls teams.
This will be the 44th competition for boys and the 11th for the girls. The Culver City girls, who have won the tournament the last two years, are the top seed.
First-round pairings for boys are Rio Mesa-Hart, 3 p.m.; Palisades-Thousand Oaks, 4:30; Torrance-Westlake, 6, and Verdugo Hills-Beverly Hills, 7:30. Tuesday’s boys match-ups are Royal-Santa Monica Crossroads, 3 p.m.; Culver-Ventura, 4:30; Bishop Montgomery-Camarillo, 6, and Saugus-Buena, 7:30.
Monday’s girls games are Oxnard-Marymount, 3 p.m.; Palisades-Bellflower, 4:30; Crescenta Valley-Beverly Hills, 6, and Santa Monica-Culver City, 7:30.
Play for the girls will continue through Dec. 13, with the championship game at 6 p.m. All girls games will be played in the upstairs boys gym, except for the title contest, which will be in the swim-gym. All boys games will be in the swim gym, including the championship game at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 14.
