Gurney Beats Crisell for Girls’ Tennis Title

Cinda Gurney of Palos Verdes Chadwick High School defeated Carrie Crisell of Huntington Beach Marina, 6-2, 6-4, Friday to win the Southern Section Girls’ individual tennis title at the Racquet Club of Irvine.
Earlier Friday, Gurney defeated San Clemente’s Noelle Porter, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, and Crisell beat Palos Verdes’ Stella Sampras, 6-1, 6-0, to advance to the final.
Krista Amend and Kim Po of Rancho Palos Verdes Miraleste won the doubles title by defeating Gillian Johnson and Christine Behrens of Rolling Hills, 6-2, 6-2.
