LA JOLLA — A three-month investigation of a suspected call-girl ring here ended Wednesday night with the arrest of four suspects, San Diego police said.
The ring is suspected of operating for at least a year at the La Jolla Village Tennis Club subdivision and had as many as 10 to 12 females working at a time, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
A search warrant Wednesday night led to the arrest of Christian James Koalani, 36, also known as Steven Garcia, of La Jolla, on suspicion of pimping and pandering. Karen Ann Barenseke, 23, of San Diego, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sale. Darah Lois Sternberger, 20, of San Diego, was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana but was released at the scene after a citation was issued. Also, a 15-year-old girl was detained and taken to Juvenile Hall.
Robinson said the prostitutes ranged in age from 15 to 25.
