NAACP leaders in Oakland and Emeryville are asking the FBI to investigate the death of a black man found hanging from a tree in Concord. Police believe it was a suicide. Timothy Lee, 23, Berkeley, was found hanging Nov. 2 near a Bay Area Rapid Transit station with a suicide note near his body. Officials of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People alleged that Lee’s $197 paycheck was cashed two days after he died. NAACP spokeswoman Thordie Ashley said the group believes foul play may have been involved.
