Wilmington : Meeting on Development
A public meeting to consider a moratorium on high-density apartment construction in Wilmington and Harbor City will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Banning Park Recreation Center, 1331 Eubank Ave.
The meeting, arranged by harbor-area Councilwoman Joan Milke Flores, will address two proposals that were offered by Flores last November. One would affect all areas of Wilmington and Harbor City where high-density apartment development is now permitted; the other proposal would identify problem areas in the two communities and limit development only in those places.
A third proposal--to take no action on the recent surge of high-density apartments--also will be considered.
If a moratorium proposal is endorsed by Flores and subsequently enacted by the Los Angeles City Council, it could take effect as early as March.
