Air and ground patrols of Ortega Highway in Orange County, where three batches of explosive and lethal chemicals were found this week, will be the topic of a meeting of state and county officials today in San Juan Capistrano. “The No. 1 item is to try to figure out the feasibility of making some kind of sweep of the Ortega to locate and clean up any other possible sites,” said Ken Daily, a California Highway Patrol spokesman. “That may not sound like much, but it’s going to be one heck of a job.” A 14-mile section of the highway, which connects Riverside and Orange counties, was shut down for several hours Wednesday after 30 to 40 containers with a variety of deadly and explosive chemicals were discovered. Two similar incidents closed the road Monday.
