Research & Development Centers : Construction Under Way on $9-Million Project

Search Builders Inc. has started construction on Search Sorrento, a $9-million, two-building, 97,000-square-foot high-tech research and development complex in the Cornerstone Pacific Corporate Center in San Diego’s Sorrento Mesa area. The architect is Carli Architecture, San Diego, and the builder is Equidon Construction Group, San Diego.

Aero Park Lease Signed

Loral Instrumentation has signed a six-year, $3,480,753 lease for 52,525 square feet of research and development space in Aero Research Park, a $7-million project at Aero Drive and Afton Road, San Diego. Grubb & Ellis represented the park and Coldwell Banker represented Loral.

Two Projects Completed

Holmes & Reynolds Development Co. has completed the $9-million Ocean Pointe Tech Center on a six-acre site on Avenida Encinas in Carlsbad, as well as the $5.5-million, two-building Centre at Carmel Mountain Ranch in San Diego. Ocean Pointe was a joint venture with Western Communities Associates and has 65,000 square feet of space. The Carmel Mountain project has 40,000 square feet of space.

Building Completed

A $1.2-million, 53,100-square-foot research and development building has been completed at Technology Drive and West Bernardo Drive in Rancho Bernardo. The developers are Oliphan/McMahon Properties and Five M Development and the architect is McMahon Partnership. Trepte Construction Co. was the general contractor.
