Culver City Renews Anti-Graffiti Pact
The City Council of Culver City has renewed a contract with the Graffiti Removal Co. of Monterey Park to clean up city-owned and city-maintained buildings. Under the new contract, the company has seven days to remove graffiti after being notified of it. The current contract allows 15 days, but the city staff recommeded a shorter period because it has found that the longer graffiti remains on buildings the more it proliferates.
The council also adopted a local hazardous-waste ordinance that puts the city Fire Department in charge of taking inventory of acute toxic chemicals and regulating their storage, handling and discharge.
Under a recently passed state law, cites or counties are required to adopt such an ordinance.
