Eagle Rock Partying
Those who zealously promote the right of everyone to possess firearms must have had special reason to party it up New Year’s Eve.
From the sound of things, in Eagle Rock at least, they now have quite a following of characters who chose to abuse their dubious right by shooting out the old year and shooting in the new.
For about 10 creepy minutes on either side of midnight of the 31st, when all hell broke loose with the unmistakable sound of gunfire and loud explosions, one could almost imagine being in the middle of a shoot-out in Beirut.
Remembering when the New Year was ushered in by the benign blare of horns and shouts of good wishes, it’s scary to think that the arms race has now reached the trigger-happy advocates of gun ownership for this fearsome turn of events and those newcomers to our country who’ve brought their cockamamie celebrative customs here with them.
