A Senior Center has opened in Hall B at Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd.
Operated jointly by the city and Jewish Family Services for residents over the age of 60, the center will provide information and referral services, recreational activities, counseling and assistance in filling out forms. Additionally, the center’s staff will help seniors obtain meals, transportation, health care and in-home support services.
Most services are free, although some programs request a nominal donation. According to city spokeswoman Helen Goss, no one will be turned away because of an inability to pay.
The center is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Emergency assistance can be obtained from the staff Monday through Thursday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Assistance can be obtained by calling (213) 851-8202.
