Top-Ranked Simi Beats Royal, 2-0

Simi Valley High, ranked first among Southern Section 4-A schools, scored two goals in the second half to break a a halftime tie and beat Royal, 2-0, in a Marmonte League soccer game Saturday.
Wing Mike Lovegren scored first, when his throw in went into the Royal net. Simi Valley’s leading scorer, Ricky Acuna, scored the second goal on an assist by Steve MacKenzie. It was Acuna’s 18th goal and MacKenzie’s 15th assist of the season.
It was the Pioneer’s 11th shutout of the season behind goalkeeper Steve Bame.
