The pastor of a Burbank church has pleaded not guilty to charges of beating his wife three times late last year.
James Lewis, 40, of Burbank, pastor of the New Life Church, was arraigned before Burbank Municipal Court Judge Marion Gubler Tuesday on charges of corporal injury to a spouse.
Lewis, who is free on his own recognizance, was ordered to appear March 27 at a preliminary hearing in Burbank Superior Court.
Lewis is accused of beating his wife, Rosie, 44, at least three times last December, officials said. Police said Lewis hit his wife with a belt, struck her and broke her finger.
