Valentine’s Day Change of Heart

PITTSBURGH — The maker of the Clark Bar and Zagnut candies delivered sweet news to the Pittsburgh area on Valentine’s Day, reversing a decision to move and saying it will keep its 100-year-old operation here.
Erkki Railo, president of the Chicago-based Leaf Inc., said the change of heart came after a local group helped find a new factory and workers agreed to job reductions and temporary wage concessions of 95 cents an hour. And besides, more than 18,000 post cards were sent to Leaf asking it to reconsider and saying the senders would never eat another Clark Bar if the company moved.
