Train Derails, Spills Acid in Canadian Lakes

PARRY SOUND, Canada — An Ohio-bound train carrying sulfuric acid derailed on a remote rail line, pouring thousands of gallons of the highly corrosive liquid into two icy lakes, officials said.
Fifteen tank cars were derailed in the accident Wednesday. Ralph Eastman, spokesman for Ontario province’s Environment Ministry, said acid from six tankers leaked into Doley Lake.
