Rookie Eklund Leads Flyers Over Jets, 8-4

PHILADELPHIA — Rookie Pelle Eklund scored a goal and two assists Monday as the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Winnipeg Jets, 8-4, in a National Hockey League game Monday.
Eklund, 23, drafted three years ago from Sweden, scored the winning goal at 16:25 of the second period, putting the Flyers ahead, 5-2.
Brian Propp, Tim Kerr and Brad McCrimmon each had a goal and an assist, and Ron Sutter scored twice for the Flyers. Dale Hawerchuk also had a goal and an assist for Winnipeg, which lost for the 11th time in its last 18 games.
