Fresno State Tops USD, 3-1

SAN DIEGO — Fresno State catcher Bob Thurston went 2 for 4 and had a home run as the Bulldogs beat the University of San Diego, 3-1, Wednesday at USD.
Fresno (1-5) scored two runs in the first and another in the sixth on Thurston’s homer. Fresno’s Steve Wapnick went the distance for the win.
USD’s Sean Baron went 2 for 4 and scored in the ninth. Teammate Mark Trafton was 2 for 4 with two doubles. USD is 4-1-1.
