WCAC Roundup : Gonzaga Beats USD, 68-61

Senior guard Jeff Condill scored 20 points to lead Gonzaga past the University of San Diego, 68-61, in a West Coast Athletic Conference basketball game Saturday night at Spokane, Wash.
The game was tied at halftime, 27-27, but San Diego pulled ahead, 51-46, with 6:16 left.
The Bulldogs then made four free throws to pull within one point, and after a San Diego turnover, Condill hit a 10-foot jumper that put the Bulldogs ahead to stay.
Freshman forward Jim McPhee had 15 points for the Bulldogs.
Junior guard Paul Leonard led San Diego with 16 points, 7 assists and 8 rebounds.
The Bulldogs improved their record to 14-13 overall and 7-6 in the conference. San Diego fell to 18-9 and 8-5.
Portland 63, St. Mary’s 57--Senior guard Fred Harris had 10 points in the second half and a team-high 14 points for the game to lead the Pilots to victory at Portland.
Harris’ layin with 8:52 to play gave Portland a 52-45 lead that proved unbeatable.
The game was tied at halftime, 30-30, and with 10:42 remaining, 45-45, before Harris got hot and scored seven straight points.
Senior forward Dan Hunt added 11 points and 7 rebounds for the Pilots.
Junior guard Paul Robertson scored a game-high 15 points for St. Mary’s.
Portland improved to 4-9 in the WCAC and 13-14 overall. St. Mary’s fell to 3-10 and 10-16.
