Police arrested a Warren High School math and computer teacher Friday and charged him with having unlawful intercourse with a 17-year-old female student.
Lyle Patrick Hale, 32, of Downey was arrested at the school after police used a warrant to search his home on Imperial Highway, Detective Jim Elsasser said. During the search, police found letters from the student to the teacher, Elsasser said.
Hale is being held in county jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. The district attorney’s office has filed five felony counts of unlawful intercourse against Hale, Elsasser said, that could result in a maxiMum sentence of five years in prison upon conviction.
