DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A Georgia college student climbing from one hotel balcony to another during a spring break party fell six stories to her death, authorities said today.
Laurain Day Buffington, 20, a student at Gordon Junior College in Barnesville, Ga., was following a friend from one balcony to another at the Holiday Inn Boardwalk on Thursday when she fell to the parking lot, police said. It was the first fatality of this year’s spring break in Daytona Beach, where three people were killed in falls from motel balconies last year.
