‘AIRWOLF,’ ‘COP’ WIN STUNT HONORS

The best of 1985’s rough-and-tumble on the big and little screens fell into the limelight at the second annual Stuntman Awards, with CBS-TV’s “Airwolf” and the film “Beverly Hills Cop” winning the most honors.
“Airwolf” and “Beverly Hills Cop” each won awards in three categories, followed by the film “To Live and Die in L.A.” and the ABC-TV series “MacGyver” with two apiece.
The awards presentation, hosted by Lee Majors, star of ABC’s “Fall Guy,” was taped Saturday at KTLA-TV studios in Hollywood for syndication as a two-hour television special.
ABC’s “MacGyver,” won best television highwork for a parachute jump from a cliff in the pilot episode and best TV specialty stunt for a horse to helicopter transfer in the “Pegasus” episode.
NBC’s “The A-Team” also was honored for highwork in the “Judgment Day” episode. In the film division the Statue of Liberty sequence of “Remo Williams” and a balcony fall in “Stick” were the honorees.
The “Girls Night Out” episode of the NBC detective series “Riptide” won a TV specialty stunt award for a truck hang, while the film division honors went to “Rainy Day Friends” for a truck drag and to “Nightmare on Elm Street Part I” for a “full fire burn.”
