Two children and four adults were taken to hospitals Tuesday morning after a school bus collided with two cars waiting at a stoplight on Texas Street, authorities said.
The children were part of a group of 53, all between the ages of 7 and 11, on a Copley YMCA school bus accompanied by six camp counselors. The bus collided with the cars at 10:18 a.m. on Texas Street at Interstate 8, Fire Department spokesman Larry Cook said.
The four adults were in one of the cars, Cook said.
Wendy Coppalino, 39, and Margaret Phanes, 36, were taken to Alvarado Hospital Medical Center, where they were treated for minor injuries, hospital spokesman Thomas Berger said.
The other two adults, neither seriously injured, were examined at Sharp Memorial Hospital and released, a spokeswoman for the hospital said. Their names were not available.
A young girl whose name was not disclosed was treated at Sharp Memorial Hospital, said the spokeswoman.
Thai Cabados, 9, of San Diego, was transferred to Children’s Hospital, where he was listed in good condition without apparent injuries. He will probably be released this morning, spokesman Vince Bond said.
