Texas Ranger right-hander Charlie Hough, who was scheduled to open the season April 8 against the Toronto Blue Jays, broke the little finger on his pitching hand while shaking hands and will be out at least three weeks, the Rangers said.
Hough broke the finger Monday night, but the break was not confirmed until X-rays were taken Tuesday, the team said.
A pin is to be implanted Thursday, and doctors say Hough will not be able to throw for at least 10 days after that. He is expected to be out for at least three weeks.
