Anaheim police arrested two men on suspicion of bank robbery Wednesday after a chase, officers said.
The robbery occurred at 10 a.m. when a man walked into Barclay’s Bank at 320 E. Katella Way and handed tellers a note demanding cash, Sgt. Larry Kurtz said.
The robber fled with $656 in cash and was seen climbing onto the back of a motorcycle driven by another man.
Police chased the two into an apartment complex at 401 W. Orangewood Ave. The suspects then drove into an apartment complex at 465 W. Orangewood Ave., where they abandoned their motorcycle and ran down an alley.
Detective Jack Jensen confronted them and fired three shots when one appeared to be preparing to fire at him, Kurtz said. The shots missed.
Minutes later, Leonard Allen Veale, 39, of Garden Grove was taken in custody after he crawled under a car. Michael Ray Ormsby, 26, also of Garden Grove, was arrested after he tried to flee down Harbor Boulevard.
Both were booked into Anaheim City Jail on suspicion of robbery and were held in lieu of $50,000 bail each, Kurtz said.
