Drane Beats Locke in Split Decision

In Tuesday’s main event at the Reseda Country Club, Derrick Drane (15-4, 12 knockouts) of Honolulu won a split decision over Ricky Locke (7-8-2) of Bakersfield in an eight-round middleweight bout. In a preliminary fight, North Hollywood bantamweight Manny Olivas (8-2) won a unanimous six-round decision over Javier Lara (3-5-1), also of North Hollywood.
Exum Speight from Raleigh, N.C., lost his professional debut to David Graves (4-0) of San Diego. Graves won a unanimous decision in their six-round cruiserweight match. Lightweight Danny Garcia (7-2-1) of El Monte won a six-round split decision over Daniel Cortez (5-3) of San Jose.
Randy Ortega (5-1-1) of North Hollywood survived first- and third-round knockdowns to stop Luis Prado (3-3) of Fresno at 2:17 of the fourth round of their scheduled six-round bantamweight match.
