College Baseball : Cal State Northridge Beats Chapman

Cal State Northridge scored three runs in the last two innings Wednesday to take a 4-1 California Collegiate Athletic Assn. decision over Chapman College at Hart Park in Orange.
The Matadors (16-19 overall and 8-10 in the CCAA) took the lead for good at 2-1 in the eighth inning when John Balfanz scored on a base hit by Gary Williams. Jim Vatcher added a two-run homer in the ninth.
Dan Gonzalez got the win and Ron Hubel the loss. Chapman dropped to 6-9 in CCAA play, 14-23 overall.
In other college action:
Southern California College 6, The Masters 3--Jim McCahill was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Lou McCollum was 1 for 3 with two RBIs to lead the Vanguards (25-13) to the nonconference win in Costa Mesa. Robert Mansfield (3-1) got the win with relief help from Steve Overeem.
Matt MacArthur hit a three-run homer in the fifth for The Masters (15-23-1).
