Congress and the NRA

The Reagan Administration’s support of weakened gun-control laws is perhaps the ultimate proof of its intellectual bankruptcy.
Even a bullet into Reagan and one of his aides has not been sufficient practical evidence to convince these ideologues of the dangers these weapons present to society, and of the need for tighter (not weaker) controls.
Is it any wonder that there is little hope for any meaningful progress on issues such as nuclear-arms reduction, deficit reduction, tax reform, world population control, peace in Central America, air-and-water pollution control, etc., when such callousness and disregard for basic human values exists at the highest levels of our government?
