Tennis Roundup : Lendl, Becker in Quarterfinals of Tournament of Champions

Top-seeded Ivan Lendl, who has lost only two matches in eight months, trounced Aaron Krickstein, 6-2, 6-4, Thursday to advance along with West Germany’s Boris Becker into the quarterfinals of the $615,000 Shearson Lehman Tournament of Champions at Forest Hills, N.Y.
The second-seeded Becker had trouble disposing of Horacio de la Pena of Argentina, 7-5, 7-5.
In other matches, Guillermo Vilas of Argentina knocked off Mexican teen-ager Leonardo Lavalle, 6-2, 6-2; third-seeded Joakim Nystrom of Sweden struggled past No. 14-seeded Tim Wilkison, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2; fourth-seeded Yannick Noah of France breezed past Paul McNamee of Australia, 6-0, 6-3; Pablo Arraya of Peru beat Diego Perez of Uruguay, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1; ninth-seeded Martin Jaite of Argentina ousted Bruno Oresar of Yugoslavia, 6-3, 6-3, and seventh-seeded Thierry Tulasne of France eliminated Milan Srejber of Czechoslovakia, 6-3, 6-4.
Martina Navratilova overcame a 5-2 second-set deficit and defeated Susan Mascarin, 6-2, 7-5, in the first round of the $200,000 Gunze World tournament at Tokyo.
In another women’s match, Pam Shriver beat Annabel Croft of Britain, 6-1, 6-3.
In men’s singles, Johan Kriek downed Paul Annacone, 7-6, 6-3.
Chris Evert Lloyd overwhelmed Ann Henricksson, 6-2, 6-1, to advance to the quarterfinals of the $150,000 Virginia Slims of Houston. Earlier, Wendy Turnbull posted a 6-0, 7-6 victory over Camille Benjamin.
